One Single Impression -- Equals (a different take)

After some sleep and some thought, another point of view (see yesterday's entry below):

Equals

We dance our lives
in the great ocean of air,
exchanging carbon for oxygen;
our atoms vibrate
to harmonic universals;
we warm ourselves
in Sol’s yellow rays;
entropy winds us down
returning our molecules
to dust.

Life and death, the great equalizers.

Hi Sue, this is neat. Are you suggesting that perhaps old age is the factor triggering entropy. I'll answer yes for me, plus many other disease, genetic, etc. factors.
I learned a little but stopped at the math, starting with the delta S (Wikipedia).

Thanks, Jim. I think entropy is inevitable for everything in the universe -- energy moves from ordered to disordered, matter becomes disordered. It is the way of all things. We humans are the only creatures that resist it -- call it "aging" and fight against it.

And what a lovely dance--and fair trade--it is!

Bravo! and i say again .. Bravo! For in my old age I have come to believe, in the end, Death is my friend .. but I only want it around when my carbon body is exhausted and can't go on.

Could feel the spiraling dance in the rhythm, the dance of dust, each particle made luminous in the sunlight, "for dust though art, and unto dust shalt thou return."

Thanks for your comment re sharing the cake at my blog. I have heard it said that the dearth of desire to change the world for the better, usually the prerogative of students, is missing all over the world, currently. Hopefully the dearth of easily available money will change this.

Entropy indeed winds us down. Can we fight nature. Lovely poem.
